This is one of them books I just absolutely love the idea of, and I really want to like it, but in the end it’s just not for me.
Split into four different stories all having their own beautiful and tragic reason to be going back in time, this novel started off pulling at my heart strings in every which way. I struggled slightly with the writing, whether that be the author or the translator, I found it slightly plucky and disjointed.
The idea behind the stories was so raw and meaningful, but after a few I was extremely bored. They all seemed to follow the exact same pattern, simply with the names of each character changed. I just felt as if it took me a lot of energy to read the final chapter, and I wasn’t surprised by anything that happened.
I always give a low stars review a benefit of the doubt, just because I rate a book low doesn’t make it bad – it just means it wasn’t for me. Personally though, I don’t think I will read anything else in the series as I can’t imagine it being any different to this story…
