What a perfect end to a hauntingly beautiful duology!
I’m on such a fantasy kick after this duology, knowing it’s one of those series which nothing will be able to match for a while. I just can’t wait to read more books by Rachel Gillig, venturing further into this gothic, dark romantasy vibe which I absolutely adore!
The second book in The Shepherd King duology focuses on finding the Twin Alders card, completing the providence card deck to free Blunder from the fever magic. With Elspeth’s body now taken over by the nightmare, this novel surrounds itself equally with endless love and painful anguish.
This might be one of the best novels I’ve ever read. The pacing, the tension – everything is so engaging and vivid in the writing that there was no use in asking me to ever put this down. The gothic elements were so heavy in this story, embedded so well in the plot that it totally took me by surprise in the most disgusting but emotional way. I love ending up focused and loving side characters… and I’ll leave the spoilers at that!!
